Small Group Training in Pasadena
Your own program, coached rep by rep, in a small group. Your smartest friend who also happens to be a great coach.
About the Small Group Training programPasadena, CA
Our Pasadena studio on E Colorado Blvd is a small-group personal training room built for adults over 40. A coach writes your plan, a coach watches your form, and every session is chosen for the body you have today.

Most people who walk into the Pasadena studio have been away from training for a while, or have a knee, a shoulder or a back with strong opinions. That is normal here. It is who the room is for.
We coach adults 40 and up in small groups, which means you get a plan written for you and a coach close enough to catch the rep that would have cost you a week. Safe on knees, shoulders and back is not a slogan, it is how the programming gets written.
You train on set days with the same small group, so the room gets familiar fast. A coach has your program ready before you arrive, sets your weights, and changes the movement the moment something is bothering you.
You never have to plan your own workout, and you never have to guess whether you are doing it right. Just show up and we handle the rest.
We coach people from Pasadena, South Pasadena, Altadena and San Marino. Plenty of members work nearby and train before the day starts or right after it ends.
If you are weighing us against a big-box gym, come and stand in the room for ten minutes. The difference is not the equipment, it is whether anybody knows your name and your history when you walk in.

About the Nutrition Coaching programUpdate to my original review: Soon, I'll have been a member of Aion Personal Training for three years. My wife saw how positive the experience was for me, and she joined and has been there for over a year now. I'm 55 years old now. Compared to just three years ago, I am stronger. I am in far better shape for simple everyday things like climbing multiple flights of stairs instead of taking an elevator. Most important: I feel more confident that I will retain a stronger, healthier body as I get older. It's not that I never have setbacks. At one point, I strained a muscle in my arm. At another point, my knee started giving me trouble. The important thing is, in response to these things, the amazing coaches at Aion worked closely with me to modify my workouts and perfect my form to mitigate discomfort and strengthen vulnerable areas to protect me from a recurrence. It works! Now here's my original review, all of which still applies: I spent the first 50-ish years of my life vacillating between being active and fit, and overweight and sedentary. Dieting had me losing weight and then gaining it all back, and then some. At 40, I worked with a personal trainer who got me in great shape but weighed me weekly and shamed me whenever I gained a pound or two. Then, parenthood happened and I stopped exercising altogether. By the time the COVID lockdown ended, I could hardly make it up a single flight of stairs. I was in the worst shape of my life, and scared for my future. But I always had excuses: too busy, no time, and worst of all: why bother because I know I'll just let it go again? Then one day, I was walking down Colorado Blvd. when Aion Personal Training's sign caught my eye. A gym for people 40+? And only a short walk from my workplace? I had no excuse not to try. Marcus, the owner, was welcoming, non-judgmental, and had a straightforward sense of confidence that I could get fit and improve my life if I just... showed... up. Over the two years I've been a member, I've come to know the coaches and many of my fellow clients, and to appreciate the sense of community that's been created. The coaches have a positive energy and, during my semi-private (small group) workouts, there's an amazing level of personal attention to check my form, offer advice, and encourage me to push past where I was last week. It's a long game, and the folks at Aion Personal Training know it. My plan is to be with them for the long haul. I highly recommend that you set up a consultation if this sounds like it could be a good fit for you.
Friendly and encouraging folks are there to help one get in shape and work on whatever level one is in at the present time
Good fun Aion provides and nice atmosphere and training is not so intense. Once upon a time I competed in sports so you know how intense that could be. Aion makes it fun relaxing and worth the time.
Tell us which session you are coming to and we will send you exactly where to park that day. Parking near E Colorado Blvd changes block by block and hour by hour, so we would rather give you the current answer than one you have to fix from the car.
You start with a free consultation. You tell us what hurts, what you want back and what your week actually looks like. Then a coach walks you through the floor and you move a little, so we can see how your body works today. Nothing is graded and nobody is watching you.
Training shoes, clothes you can move in, and water. That is the list. If you use a brace, an insert or anything else that keeps a joint happy, bring it and tell your coach about it before you start.
Adults 40 and up. People coming back after a long break, people carrying an old injury, people who want to still be lifting their own suitcase at 70. You do not need to get in shape before you start. Starting is how you get in shape.
You train in a small group with a coach on the floor and a plan written for you. The coach sets your weights, checks your form, and swaps a movement the day it aggravates something instead of asking you to push through it.
That is the whole point of coaching it this way. Every exercise is picked for the body you have today, and it changes the moment something flares up. Tell your coach what hurts and the plan moves around it.
Fill in the form on this page, or call the studio at (626) 382-7600. We will find a time for your free consultation, and one conversation is usually enough for you to know whether this is your room.
