Strength Training for Adults 40+

Strength training after 40 is not about lifting the most. It is about keeping what you have and adding back what you lost, at a rate your joints can hold. That is what our small group personal training program is built to do.

Getting stronger, safely, in a small group

You lift real weight, and you get heavier over time, because progressive load is the only thing that actually builds strength. The part people get wrong on their own is the rate they add weight and the positions they get heavy in.

A coach on the floor decides both. Your plan is written for your body, your weights are set for you, and a movement gets swapped the day it bothers a knee, a shoulder or a back.

A member presses a kettlebell overhead while a coach stands alongside her.

Expert Coaching

We give you everything you need to get in fantastic shape. No injuries, no nonsense. Our coaches keep you accountable every step of the way, with programming written for the body you have today.

What you get back

Stairs without thinking about them. Luggage into the overhead bin. Getting off the floor without a plan. The strength you notice first is the ordinary kind, and it is the kind that keeps you independent later.

Bone and muscle respond to load at any age, which is exactly why 40 and up is the right time to start rather than the wrong one.

Team Training

We also run Team Training, a larger group format, at select times. Ask your coach.

Available at both studios

Strength Training for Adults 40+ runs the same way in Pasadena and Eagle Rock. Pick the studio that fits your week.

Questions about this program

I have never lifted weights. Is this for me?

Yes. Plenty of members had never touched a barbell before their first month. You learn each movement with a coach next to you, at a weight chosen for the body you have today.

Will lifting heavy hurt my back or my knees?

Bad positions and jumping the load hurt people. Coached lifting at the right weight is one of the better things you can do for a joint. Tell your coach what bothers you and the plan works around it.

Is this a class?

It is a small group, not a class. Everyone is on their own program at their own weight. What you share is the room, the coach and the hour. We also run Team Training, a larger group format, at select times. Ask your coach.

How long before I feel a difference?

We will not sell you a number. What we will tell you at your consultation is what the first few months usually look like for someone in your situation, and what it will take from you.

Not sure which is right for you?

The other two programs

Talk to a coach before you decide.

Your first consultation is free, and you will leave it knowing exactly what we would do with you and why.
